HTC EVO 3D vs. EVO 4G

Naturally, one of the first things you need to do when you get your hands on an  EVO 3D , of course, is pit it in brutal battle with its progenitor, the original  EVO 4G  -- a phone that was introduced at this exact same event a year ago. As we'd mentioned in our hands-on, we immediately noticed that the EVO 3D didn't feel particularly heavy or bulky in the hand; in fact, we would've guessed that it was a bit lighter than the 4G. Well, turns out they're almost exactly the same weight -- holding the two one right after the other, we couldn't detect a difference. As for dimensions, the 4G is actually wider -- the 3D's quite a bit more manageable when you're holding it, especially if you don't have giant paws -- and they're right around the same thickness. Pretty amazing that HTC was able to pack this much additional heat into a phone one year after the first model without adding any bulk, isn't it? Science!

Sprint HTC EVO 3D review

Mild-mannered high-end smartphone, or a three-dimensional breakthrough?   There are a couple ways to look at the  Sprint HTC EVO 3D . One is that it's a high-end smartphone, with the latest hardware and software you can get. Another is that it's a high-end smartphone with the latest hardware and software -- and 3D recording and playback technology. There's a larger discussion to be had regarding 3D recording and playback on smartphones. Do we really want it? Do we need it? Are we just seeing first-generation tech growing pains? That's a discussion we've been having for some time, and we'll continue to have it. But back to the EVO 3D. It's one of the first dual-core-processor phones to be released by Qualcomm (along with the HTC Sensation). It's one of the first to run the new HTC Sense 3.0 user interface. Oh, and it's the first 3D smartphone to be released in the United States. And it's following up one of the hottest phones of the pas...

Sprint HTC Evo 4G Review

The EVO 4G is Sprint's first WiMAX Smartphone, has a gigantic touchscreen, and will blow your mind Picture, if you will, your perfect smartphone. What features would it have? How small (or big) would it be? Would it have what it takes to get you off that BlackBerry, or iPhone, or whatever. Sprint and HTC have done that -- and then some --  with the Evo 4G . It's the world's first Android smartphone that can use Sprint's 4G WiMax data. It has a monstrous 4.3-inch touchscreen. It has the ubiquitous 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It has the HTC Sense interface, to make your experience as easy as possible. But that's all nerdspeak. Know this: It's big, it's fast, it's easy to use, and it's just about the best Android smartphone available today. And it is available Friday (finally!) for $199 after contract and rebate with Sprint. We explain why you'll want this one, after the break.
