Samsung Galaxy S2 Vs Samsung Illusion:

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has not only become an iconic smartphone for Samsung but has also helped secure for the company a large piece of the pie in the Android scene. It is a very powerful phone, but it is also somewhat pricey–though it is worth every cent.
But, what about those who can’t afford to spend extra bucks to buy a new powerful smartphone? Does Samsung have something for them? Samsung seems to have all segments covered, as it does have one feature-packed smartphone for those who don’t need a Galaxy S2, or can’t afford to buy one. The Samsung Illusion, is one such phone.
Let’s take a look at these two Samsung handsets and see why one is better than the other for you.
Display and Design
The Samsung Illusion is light and compact. It fits perfectly in almost anybody’s hand. Thanks to the ergonomic shape and round curves, the phone is comfortable to hold. Although thicker than the Galaxy S2’s 8.5 mm depth, it does have advantages over the competition. One such advantage concerns the Illusion’s design that makes it easy for users to hold and grip the device. It is covered with a nice grip texture on the back of the phone.
The Galaxy S2 is considered one of the slimmest and lightest devices in the market today. That fact is one of the reasons for its being hailed as the king of smartphones.
In terms of screen size, the Samsung Illusion sports a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display, which is a rather comfortable size. In comparison, the Galaxy S2 sports a massive 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen.
Hardware
Powering the Samsung Illusion is a single-core 1-GHz Cortex A8 processor that does a fairly nice job in handling graphics with its 512 MB of RAM. Although the Galaxy S2 runs pretty fast with its 1.2 GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor and 1 GB RAM, it still remains at the top when it comes to lightning-fast processing speeds and fast operations with its Mali-400MP GPU.
Camera
The camera software is easy to operate on the Samsung Illusion. Users can shoot different modes or scenes. The above-average 3.15 MP camera onboard the Illusion is a decent shooter for everyday use, but not as a replacement camera as it does not support autofocus. It also lacks key distinct features of a camera compared to the Galaxy S2’s 8 MP camera. On paper, the Galaxy S2′s camera is richly packed with all the features you would want in a camera.
Operating System
Fresh out of the box, both the Samsung Illusion and Galaxy S2 run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Though, Samsung plans to upgrade the Galaxy S2 to Ice Cream Sandwich by next year. Both phones carry the same TouchWiz UI that Samsung loads onto almost all of its Android devices.
Verdict
The Samsung Illusion is a straightforward device, more of a Galaxy Ace upgrade if you ask me. Although the bumped-up 1 GHz single-core processor may not be in league with the Galaxy S2’s dual-core capabilities, it still packs a punch, offering smoother transitions and superb functionality. Consider it as a budget phone or a mid-range smartphone with all the necessary features onboard. But, if you can afford to part with a few more hundred dollars, then go for the Galaxy S2. With millions of units sold worldwide, you can’t go wrong with choosing the ultimate Android device.
