Meizu have made a name for themselves in China, and their quality and powerful devices are starting to be acknowledged by the West, too, which means that it might not be long until they start selling them to Europe and US, as well.
The dual core Meizu MX is already featuring a dual core Exynos chip from Samsung, and according to other rumors there will be a quad core Galaxy S3 that would feature the Exynos 4412 (based on Cortex A9). That means that it’s also possible that the next Meizu MX will come with that chip as well.
It wouldn’t make it the first quad core phone on the market. I’m sure even HTC will have a quad core Tegra 3 phone out by then, and if Meizu can get their hands on Samsung’s quad core chip in May, then that means we’ll see the Galaxy S3 earlier than May, too – maybe April or even March.
Next year will definitely be the year of quad core chips, but also of dual core Cortex A15 chips, at least in the 2nd half of 2012. The performance race is getting a little crazy, considering even for these phone-computer devices, the chips are getting too powerful. But this is why we’re starting to see stuff like Tegra 3′s 5th companion core, or the appearance of the Cortex A7 chip and the big.Little configuration, that may or may not arrive by the end of 2012.
Samsung says they will have that kind of chip by the end of 2012, thanks to their partnership with ARM. Does that mean it will be in this version of the Meizu MX? Probably not, but perhaps in the next one after that:
